Speaking on Saturday, October 25, at the 75th Anniversary celebration of Mawuli Senior High School in Ho, the Minister urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) and school administrators to fully control student conduct on campus. His remarks directly addressed the escalating public debate regarding granting long hair to female students. He issued a disclaimer:
"There is an ongoing debate about haircuts—size and length of hairs in secondary schools; we will not tolerate it today, we will not tolerate it tomorrow so long as we are shaping character."
Minister Iddrisu emphasized that character development necessitates discipline. “If we give in to hair today, it will be shoes tomorrow, and the way they dress the next day. As a result, "you are accordingly empowered to take full control of how students behave as part of our disciplinary measures," he emphasized.
