| Edem Postpones Edemfest 2026 Days Before November 7 Show, New Date Coming |
Volta Region fans who had marked November 7 on their calendars will have to hold on a little longer. Ayigbe Edem and his Volta Regime Music Group (VRMG) have officially postponed Edemfest 2026, just days before the festival was due to take place. The announcement, made together with PRG Africa on Monday, November 2, 2026, says the show will no longer hold on its original date, and that a new date will be shared once it is confirmed.
What Happened
In the official statement issued from Accra, VRMG explained that a strategic opportunity has emerged for the group. Given its timing and its potential long-term value to Edemfest, the organizers have decided to pursue it, and that meant changing the festival’s original schedule. The statement does not describe what the opportunity is, so for now that part remains a mystery.
The festival had been publicised for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Emancipation Beach in Keta, with promotional posters from VRMG and PRG Africa circulating widely only a couple of weeks before the postponement was announced.
A Bigger Vision for Edemfest
VRMG says the postponement reflects a broader ambition for the festival. Beyond its identity as a music and cultural event, the vision is to keep building a platform that creates greater opportunities for Volta’s music, culture, heritage and tourism, while showcasing the region as a destination for cultural experiences.
That is a big promise, and it fits the direction Edemfest has been moving in for years. What started as a home-grown celebration of music from the region has steadily grown into one of the biggest annual gatherings in the Volta calendar.
Edem Speaks
Ayigbe Edem addressed fans directly in the statement:
“Edemfest has grown because of the people, the culture and the support behind it. We see an opportunity to take the festival further and create even greater value for the region, and we believe it is worth pursuing. We apologize for the schedule change and appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support.”
Jubilee Radio Health Walk Will Go Ahead
Not everything on the Edemfest calendar is changing. VRMG confirmed that the Jubilee Radio Health Walk will proceed as scheduled. However, Ayigbe Edem will not be in attendance, so participants should plan accordingly.
A Quick Look Back at Edemfest
Edemfest was launched in 2017 to celebrate and showcase music from the Volta Region, while also tackling societal vices. After a break caused by the COVID-19 period, it returned in 2023 and drew a crowd of more than 50,000 patrons to the Ho Jubilee Park, with performances from Kelvynboy, Jupitar, Tinny, Epixode and others. Earlier editions have featured big names such as Kofi Kinaata, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Obrafour, which shows how much weight the festival carries in the region.
Thanks to Partners, Sponsors and Fans
VRMG also thanked the health walk partners and participants, sponsors, artistes, creatives and everyone who contributed to the preparations for the 2026 edition. A lot of planning goes into a festival of this size, and the organizers made it clear that every bit of that effort is appreciated.
What to Do Next
For now, the advice is simple: do not travel to Keta for November 7 expecting a show. Follow the official Edemfest and VRMG channels for the new date and further details before making any travel or accommodation plans. The statement did not address tickets or refunds, so if you had already paid for anything, watch those same channels for guidance.
We will keep you updated here on the blog as soon as the new date drops. Stay tuned.
Keeping the vibes going, one post at a time.
