Accra, Ghana – May 23, 2026.
A viral video showing a senior student at Ada Senior High Technical School attacking a junior with a cutlass has sparked public outrage, reigniting concerns about bullying in Ghana’s Senior High Schools.
The video, which surfaced on X on May 21, 2026, shows a senior student in a black singlet confronting a junior dressed in a white T-shirt over a missing school uniform. The senior is seen holding a cutlass, threatening the junior, then dropping the weapon before grabbing him by the shirt and physically assaulting him. Other students are seen intervening to separate the pair.
In the footage, the junior student can be heard insisting the uniform belonged to him and pleading for the assault to stop.
As of press time, it remains unclear whether Ada SHS authorities have taken disciplinary action against the students involved.
The incident comes amid a string of violent cases in Ghanaian schools. In February 2026, an Adenta Circuit Court ordered three students to pay GH¢4,000 each in compensation for assaulting a teacher at West Africa Senior High School. World Vision Ghana has also recently urged swift investigations into bullying cases at Accra Academy and Zuarungu SHS.
The Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, and Africa Health Promotion Organisation are currently rolling out an anti-bullying and mental health initiative in 12 SHSs nationwide. The program aims to train peer advocates and create safer learning environments.
Police have not confirmed if they are investigating the Ada SHS incident. Under Ghanaian law, assault with a weapon can attract criminal charges.
This is a developing story. HarryKlassicGH will provide updates as school authorities or GES respond.
