| Jah Phinga Quits Music Indefinitely: Cites Mental Pressure, Lack Of Industry Support |
Ghanaian reggae and dancehall star Jah Phinga De Gongman has officially announced an indefinite break from music, sending shockwaves through the Show Bizz space.
In an emotional statement titled “GOODBYE TO MUSIC FOR NOW" shared on June 19, 2026, the _No Problem_ hitmaker opened up about years of personal sacrifice, isolation, and battles behind the scenes.
Why he’s stepping away:
- Mental pressure:Years of doubt, mockery, and rejection took a toll
- Lack of support: Built his career without mentors or structured guidance
- Financial strain: Needs stronger professional and financial backing to continue
“I’ve been discouraged, doubted, mocked, called a joke in my early years as an artist… Unfortunately I have to end it all here for now. I have to step away from music for some time,” Jah Phinga wrote.
Despite the struggles, he thanked fans for their love and credited his success to “grace and favour from God.” He left the door open for a comeback, adding: _“I pray I get the strength mentally, support financially, and the right resources… or I will just have to give it all up for good.”
Before the break, Jah Phinga was active:
- Feb 2026:Released No Problem prod. by Rayrock with a rustic bridge video
- May 2026: Dropped _Letter To Mira_
- Album: The Rebirth featuring Ice Prince on Alikoto
- Other recent songs: Glücklich, Have Faith, KEEP WINNING
The news has sparked major conversations about artist welfare, mental health, and mentorship gaps in Ghana’s music industry. Fans flooded his _No Problem_ video with support: “This is fire 🔥”, “l love you bro”, celebrating his Volta roots and unique sound.
Will he return? Jah Phinga says it depends on improved conditions and “the will of God.” For now, the Gongman is focusing on rebuilding himself.
